Horn not working

Asked by GuruNCRBB Oct 27, 2019 at 02:06 PM about the 2012 Hyundai Elantra Limited FWD with Navigation

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2012 elantra and the horn does not work when you
press the steering wheel. It works if I press the panic button
on my remote so it's not a fuse. If the clock spring was a
problem, my turn signals and wipers would not work, but they
do.

The steering control buttons for cruise control and whatnot
do not work which I don't mind, but I need the horn to work
for state inspection. My mechanic said they could install a
button for the horn for almost 200 dollars.

Is there anything I could do to fix this myself??

Not without removing the airbag and checking the steering column. If multiple items on the steering wheel do not work, you need to find the cause by inspection and testing.
