Mercury Mountaineer remote starter have automatically shut off?

Asked by MercuryQuestion Feb 03, 2019 at 09:36 PM about the 2002 Mercury Mountaineer AWD

Question type: General

Does the factory remote starter have
an automatic shut off if you don’t hit
button again or, say, forget you
started it and don’t go out to start
with the key? The owner I bought car
from says it’ll keep running but I had
an after market starter in my last car
and never heard of them continuing
running until gas runs out... seems
like more hurt than help! Anyone
know? Not familiar with these
vehicles or Ford/mercury at all.
Thanks!

I believe they will run ten minutes before shutting off. It will not run until it's out of gasoline no matter how low the gas was. And it will not remote start if there is a check engine light displayed. Start it and see what it does in ten minutes. Read owners manual if this was a factory installed unit.
