A fuel pump does not cost that much so I recommend using a new one. A used one might die the next day and then you will be out all that labor.

Ditto to the above. Just get a new one. There's frugal then there's “penny wise, pound foolish.”

Just replaced the fuel pump on my 99 explorer yesterday. Not difficult, but two people are required if you're working off jack stands. Don't let the tank drop, there are electrical connections on the top. Also clean out the tank thoroughly before reinstalling. Good fuel pump may cost 150 bucks. Saving a hundred bucks on a used pump isn't worth the time and effort if you have to pull the thing down again.

I was hoping to get an answer to your question. But it appears people just want to tell you what to do rather than just give you an answer. Seeing that your a grown man, I'd think it would be your decision to make of you wanted to get a used or new fuel pump.
