2018 lincoln mkx

Asked by GuruKBGH5 Dec 07, 2019 at 12:05 PM about the 2018 Lincoln MKZ Reserve AWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I drive a 2018 Lincoln MKX. ON 3 different occasions, the left rear tire has
suddenly deflated form 35 psi to 27 pst while driving at speed limit for
approximately 30- 40 minutes. The message light comes on indicating a
need for air.  The tire also deflates slowly when the car sits for several days.
The dealer has made attempts to diagnose the problems but I am not sure
they are correct, given the number of times this has happened.

You need a new tire. You can try a soapy water solution to spray on the tire and see if you can find the leak and patch it or plug it.

Sounds like you have something in the tire like maybe a nail. It could be a leaking valve stem as well. If you can't find a foreign object in the tire I'd suspect the valve stem or possibly a bent wheel that's causing a leak around the bead of the tire. The bead is where the tire edge goes under the edge of the wheel. Hope that helps! Jim
