2005 Mazda Tribute cranks slow then starts
My 2005 Mazda Tribute cranks over slowly but eventually starts. I am worried
that one day it will not start at all. It seems to be affected by colder weather.
What could be causing this? Had the PCM/ECM replaced almost 2 years ago
and the battery is maybe a year and a half old
The battery is the first thing to have tested, even though it is only a year and a half old, cold weather is one of the great killers of batteries, then onto the cables for voltage drops and then the starter itself. Now if all these check good then it could be a cam or crank sensor or even both messing up and over advancing the spark during cold start. A live data test will show this but it has to be like overnight cold to pick it up.
Thanks for the great advice! I will definitely troubleshoot your suggestions and greatly appreciate!!
I Hope it is an easy find.
