2001 Lincoln LS - v6 3.0 - broke metal inlet pipe for the bypass hose

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I broke Motorcraft part number km-4710, it the metal bypass pipe running
under the intake manifold on a v6 / 3.0 Lincoln LS motor. Is it possible to
replace this part without removing the intake manifold?  I could reach the
nearest of the 2 bolts holding the flange to the block, but the other is right
next to the fuel injector. A tight squeeze for a wrench. Plus it may not lift up
enough to clear the orings.  Any ideas?

It can be removed without the intake manifold being touched! Just remove the fuel injector connector next to the most distant bolt under the intake manifold. Then use a 10mm with u-joint connector to take bolt out. It takes some wiggling to get the protruding round part with the o-ring to rise up out of the block. Then it easily comes out and is replaced. You do have to remove the air clean tube that crosses that area and the 1 bolt that clamps the fuel line to the front top of the block. Then move fuel hose as needed, the rubber portion allows it to move - do not disconnect fuel line, just move it. Thats way no fuel get on you or engine.
