CORSA b strange issue

Asked by Nicol May 28, 2018 at 03:25 PM about the 1999 Opel Corsa B

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

recently bought a Corsa b with a Astra F
C16ce motor fitted. When I bought the car
there was a flat spot on low revs and ever
since I haven't been able to get it sorted.

I've replaced the following.

Spark plugs
Coilpack
Coil leads
Ect sensor
Tps sensor
Idle sensor
Crank sensor
IAT sensor
Feul relay
4 Injectors (Injector num4 was leaking)
Cleaned loom and ECU connection.
Cleaned throttle body and intake.
Clean all vacuum hoses inside (was oily)

Also put in fresh oil (3,5l)
New oil filter

Check the crank pulley and sprocket.
Timing checked and correct.

When at idle the car idles rough compared
to the average engine noise. I don't think I've
ever heard the idle as it should be.

The rev counter stopped working and the
feul gauge shows innacurate. Both new
issues. Gauge shows correct sometimes.

Revs go slightly up while changing gears
(not revving but more adjusting to maintain
idle) also when the fan comes on and when
standing still and idling it will readjust.

Sometimes on start up the car has a small
puff of white smoke that smell like petrol.

Oil smells like petrol too.

The car is a bit heavy on petrol so it must be
running rich and also I noticed there is new
hole in the exhaust.

Things to do?

Airfilter?
Map sensor?
Feul filter?
Fuel pump?

I've checked battery the reading while off
and at idle, checked ground throughout car.
Did a parasitic test on all fuses, replaced all
fuses with better quality fuses.

Even opened the ECU but it looked brand
new inside.

The car has been standing a while since its
not my primary transport and I got the car
for a very good price but I can't give up on
her just yet.

any suggestions?

Forgot to add, feul relay gets hot sometimes then stalls. If i put the old one in I can drive till it's hot and stalls again. Fuel pump? When cold on start up the hesitation is much less but when it gets to operating temperature the misfire seems worse. Sometimes I think it must be something simple other times i think it must be electrical and or sensors not working together. I've checked codes over and over when hot when cold. Nothing.
