Do you have fuel? and do you still have the original PCM?

Yes fuel is fine and yes when that wasn't the problem I took the new one off and took it back I can't afford to just throw money away like that

Good because PCM's just don't go bad. OK, So you say you have spark and fuel, but it won't fire? And all you did is shut it off, come back later to this issue, correct?

Hi I have the same problem with my 1995 Jeep Cherokee 6cyl 4x4 4.0 : I changed the Battery just because it was old tested all relays, tested all fuses under dash and under hood, replaced distributor cap because it looked beat when I inspected it, still the same problem engine cranks but no fuel explosions on its own. I sprayed some carb cleaner in throttle body and it turned on as I sprayed the cleaner then turns off.So my next step is to check the fuel pump psi since now I suspect my fuel pump may be bad. That do you guy think any suggestions?

Is your anti theft light on? Try unlocking it from the tail gate and locking it. I had this issue and did all that you did as well. It was a security issue

Same, I have a 94 jeep Cherokee. Started it up to let it run, ran for an hr then cut off. I thought maybe I ran it out of gas? Put more gas in nothing? Would crank but not start? Bought a new battery, nope Gas sprayed out of the nipple thingy? I changed fuel filter, nope. Old one wasn't even stopped up or dirty? I dont know how to check for spark? Kinda scared to. Lol Talked with a guy at the shop, he told me a crank shaft or crank something? Said he would charge me 180 to fix? Is this something I could do? I am a lady, but I think I could do it? I just wanna get it running to drive or sale. It's just sitting. My daughter is never gonna drive it. Errr Any advise I would greatly appreciate it... thanks

Mine does almost the same thing sometimes. My mechanic checked for nearly everything but couldn't find where the fault is. Someone was suggesting that there could be a problem with the air valves, am not sure how. I succeeded partly by starting and pressing accelerator. It picks but when I remove foot from the accelerator peddle it goes off. So I rave for sometime and change gear to start with both feet on accelerator and brake to move. After running for sometime its just okay. But this resurfaces intermittently. I would want to know if anyone has an idea

have you solved the problem yet? I had the same problem 15 years ago and then I changed crankshaft sensor. Now I have had the same problem again but now it didn't help to change the sensor. now it's another fault.

I have a 1996 jeep cherokee xj 4wd 6 cylinder. My car will turn over but will not fire. I had just replaced the alternator and when i went to crank to see if it worked my car wouldnt start. My alternator arched but i dont think that would cause my car to not start. Car was running/cranking fine until alternator replacement

My jeep wont crank or anything, i changed the neutral safety switch and still no crank, i bypass the NSS and it starts and runs just fine, i cant seem to figure out what is wrong.

Doesn't make sense, unless the new switch is bad or not adjusted, try hooking an ohmmeter up to the disconnected switch leads, should show contact when in neutral.
