help 97 cherokee sport 2wd

I have a 97 jeep Cherokee sport 2wd 6 cylinder .
Sometimes it won't crank unless I put it in neutral
also sometimes it won't move in reverse or drive
any ideas?

perhaps the transmission or motor mounts are defective and separating now~ jack the motor and transmission with a floorjack...a defective mount will show the separation~

I have a 97-cherokee, the flasher s/hazard light went out, won't flash at all, Any one knows where the flasher is located? Can you send some pictures, I have the flasher, can't find where to replace it

exact same thing happened to me, the alternator is going out it cranks right up in neutral without any problems also.
