Jeep jumps (with a little gas) but then dies as soon as gas pedal let off

Asked by BooANW Jun 01, 2020 at 03:58 PM about the 1999 Jeep Wrangler Sport

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Been driving a '99 Jeep Wrangler forever every day, but recently bought a
new truck. Tried to drive the jeep once a week, but one day it didnt start at
all.

Couple days later, finally went out to jump. After waiting a few minutes,
interior lights/accessories would come on. I tried to start. wouldnt start on its
own, but a few revs got it going... but as soon as i took my foot off the gas it
would die.

Might try to jump again tonight and just let it charge more, but i understand it
could be some fuel line issues, maybe just be a really dead battery... i dunno!

Fuel pump may be on it's way out , test for proper spark and fuel pressure on any no start issue , are the injectors firing ? Also sounds like a bad IAC on an older ford or gm
