Check Guages light on

Asked by marks2001jeep Aug 26, 2020 at 01:05 PM about the 2001 Jeep Wrangler Sahara

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

What would cause my 2001 Jeep Wrangler to say check guages. When it does
the temp needle shows hot but it is not.

Would that cause the engine to spit and sputter? I can let sit for less than 10 mins and cranks and runs fine.

I didn't figure showing 255 deg back down to 220 in less than 5 minutes could be right. Could be wrong but seems very fast temp drop to me.
