Tighten the gas cap. If that does not do it get a new cap. If that does not work you may need other repairs such as a new carbon canister.

The gas cap light is an indication of a EVAP slow leak. The gas cap is one of the more common fixes to try first. Should try an replace the gas cap with a new one, and have the code cleared. If this comes back on then a EVAP system smoke test is done to find the slow leak.

If you need to just say fuck it and unplug the lights so you don't have to see it

Lol @ driving it into a tree! I have the gascap light on and I reset the battery and the bodes with the OBD scanner and it turned off for 3 days. After I filed my gas tank, it came back one. The OBD generated slow evap leak codes. I will drive about 50 miles with a new gas cap and then if that doesn't work I will need to take the next step. Did anyone here try that and had to take the next step? What were the repairs and how much did it cost? Thanks

I have had two new gas caps, cleared the light for literally only seconds and it was right back on. Tightened cap til I couldn't get it off. Nope nothing. Light still in. Dings like crazy every once in a while. Keep in mind girl working on car and keep answers simple. But please tell me where to look next or like one said and I will unhook the freaking light!
