How can i unlock my steering wheel and get the key to turn over on 2014 impala limited?

Asked by CluelessAmazon Sep 17, 2018 at 09:49 PM about the 2014 Chevrolet Impala Limited LT FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

A few weeks ago my battery died and
we had it replaced along with an
alternator. The key would start the car
but would not come out. I found a way
to hit a switch that would allow me to
pop the key out without having to
replace ignition since I've just spent all
this money on a new battery and
alernator. But today when i went to
turn on my car, the key wouldn't turn.
The steering wheel locked up. I jiggled
the steering wheel while gently
attempting to turn the key. I pushed on
the brake. I made sure the car was in
park. I even took the covering off the
steering wheel and manually unlocked
the steering wheel but the key will not
turn and moving the steering wheel
slightly just locks it back up again. I
don't have a spare key.
If anyone has any ideas or
suggestions, please let me know.
Knowing me it's probably something
super simple.

Thanks

Replace the ignition lock. But You already knew that I bet. Hopefully you can turn the key one more time because you need to turn it to get the switch out
