My 1993 Chevy 1500 4X4 is using oil and has a little smoke from exhaust. What should I repair/replace?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine has less power than it did when I bought it several years back. I'm going to replace plugs, wires and distributor cap and button. What is the first thing I need to repair though?

How much oil is it using and how many miles on the truck?

Its using a quart or so per month, but I don't drive more than around 500 miles a month. It's got 160,XXX...

I'm new to using forums of any kind, so I apologize if I break rules or annoy people...

It may be time for a rebuilt or replacement engine. Make sure that the oil is not leaking from the engine.
