Fuel sending unit

I installed a new fuel sending unit in my 1985 Chevy C10
thinking float was bad and didn't let fuel gauge mark
accurate. But didn't fix that 9 months ago worked perfect.
What else can I check,  try, or do. Thanks inadvance.

I think that float is no good, you may need to cgange it again...

    When I fill my car up, it only goes to 1/4 tank, after awhile it'll move down to E when I'm about out of gas.... I think... I tested the gauge, gets 12volts and I can move the needle all the way up...
