2004 Elantra wont start or jump. Ideas?

Asked by Dawn Sep 10, 2011 at 05:38 PM about the 2004 Hyundai Elantra GLS Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have been having issues with my elantra for 2 weeks now.  It runs fine then wont start after your turn it off.  OR, it dies while driving down the street.  Alternator has been check and it is fine.  Has a new battery and a new 120A battery fuse.  Any ideas?  Sometimes it will jump but then immediately dies.  Sometimes it doesn't even make noise when you open the doors.  No clicking when turning the key over.  This is very frustrating. Any help/idea would be greatly appreciated.

It could be any of a number of problems. But from what you say the first things I would look for would be a loose battery cable, bad electrical conection or a computer problem.

It could be timing belt jumped a notch but does it have any codes in store. Clean battery. Posts with wire battery brush and someone needs to check for proper ground and voltage to key and starter
