Trac Off & Check Engine Dash Lights

I have a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire and it just got a new
used engine put in about mouth ago. This was not
done at a shop unfortunately. Cost being a issue.
I'll be driving around town on 25-45mph surface
roads. At different times the Trac Off Light will
come on by it's self and at other times with the
check engine light. It will drive fine until you have to
start to go after stopping and when shifting to 2nd
gear the is a hard jerk type this going into 2nd then
it drives OK. If I let up on the gas as it's going into
the shifting rotation the jerk is not quite as
noticeable. What might be going on. Would
appreciate any information. THANKS!!!
