2001 ford taurus hard start and rough idle

Asked by F250runovu Apr 28, 2020 at 02:48 PM about the 2001 Ford Taurus SE

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Mine is having an issue where it has a hard time
starting, runs rough when it does run and the
check engine light just flases and goes away.
Plugs, wires and coil even changed. Tried
changing that sensor for the egr at the back of
the motor with the one plug and 2 push in studs
to the vacuum lines. Plenty of fuel because you
can definetly smell it and the pump is new too.
People say it could be the crank sensor, idle air
valve, throttle body but i have no clue what's
going on.

" People " probably don't have a clue either , you need to scan the codes , what do the plugs look like ? If they are soaked in gas an injector may be stuck open , Things need to be diagnosed before you replace parts , that taurus is old so I wouldn't put too much $$ into it ,
