Transmission

Asked by trigy7 Nov 24, 2018 at 12:33 PM about the 2002 Honda Civic LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

So after I turned left I herd a grinding noise from my passenger tire area. But
still drove normal. The next morning it drove normal for about a mile and a
half, then a loss of power from the transmission. The transmission was low, I
added more fluid. With fluid levels correct, it will start off working normally for
a very short time, it will shift into all gears normally, then sudden loss of all
transmission power.

Transmissions are too tricky to diagnose based only on a single sentence description. If you think it is a transmission problem, then let a transmission shop put it on a stand and run a scan tool on it. The grinding noise however may or may not be part of the same problem, that could also be a wheel bearing or CV joint. Most mechanics/shop aren't geared toward transmission repair, so go to a dedicated tranny shop or the dealership.
