Whats going on?

Asked by TheHondaGuy Jan 25, 2015 at 09:46 AM about the 2004 Honda Civic Coupe Value Package

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Ok, I went to replace the stereo in my 2004
Honda Civic Dx/Vp. I was reading the new
radio instructions to put the radio in and it
said to pull the fuse, so that's what I did. I
got the new radio all wired up and
everything hooked back in, put the fuse
back and tried the radio. It didn't work. So I
put my old one back in and the same
results. So now when I turn the key on, the
gauges will shake, then stop. Then I figured
maybe a blown fuse, so I checked all the
bottom fuses, now my airbag light is on.
Can anyone help me?

Verify the wiring to the stereo is correct. It sounds like you may have something reversed back feeding the fuse block or something shorted to ground? Some head units come equipped with its own inline fuse. Verify the inline fuse is good (if equipped), and double check wiring terminations.

But could that be the same problem with the stock head unit. I didn't cut any wires or anything. The whole things is getting absolutely no power to it

Ok.. So I'm assuming you may have used a wiring adapter harness that is specified for your vehicle? Use the following link for your fuse block. It looks like you may have more than one fuse that feeds the dash/audio components. Verify all fuses are good. (link): http://troubleshootmyvehicle.com/honda/1.7L/civic-under-hood-fuse-box

I want to thank you SO much. That was the problem. It was the number 8, fuse under the hood. You are my lifesaver!
