Uconnect Update Issue

Asked by Guru1Q8PT Sep 16, 2019 at 04:49 PM about the 2016 Dodge Charger R/T RWD

Question type: General

When I started my 2016 Dodge charger Saturday night it said the Uconnect
was scheduled for an update. I entered a time to run the update, but as of
today, Monday - My radio is not working and it keeps asking for me to
schedule the update. I have scheduled it multiple times. It did perform an
update yesterday, but it seems there is another update that just wont work.
So frustrated. anyone else have the same issue?

Hey! Ok, so I watched a video on how to reset the factory settings and radio settings. So I held down the red and blue temp buttons at the same time. When the “software update” screen populated again I scheduled it for whatever time was there. Then I reset the factory settings, did that again, but reset the radio settings (instead of factory). Cut the car off then on, held the temp buttons simultaneously and when my radio powered back on “voila” the update was there.. and also it’s like the 18. Something something

Had this exact problem with my 2016 Challenger & was losing my mind. Followed Demechia’s instructions & literally ‘voila”.

Thanks Demechia!! This advice worked. Only I didn’t have to cut off the car.

Thanks this is the exact answer I was looking for! Anyone else having this issue follow the steps above. It fixed it for me as well. Ignore the bitter comments in between.

I tried installing the update and it "bricked" my radio. Problem with mine was it wouldn't boot up when I turned the truck on, just a black screen. May turn on one minute later or five minutes later. Update failed and said "air card bad". Took to dealer, said I needed a radio. $1200 dollars for just the radio. Service advisor slips me a card with uconnect support number. Told me they have covered some repair costs before. Called number, started a case number, they called back and said it's covered. The reason I'm guessing is because the update they provide completely kills the radio worse than it already was. So my suggestion would be, install the provided free update from uconnect, kill the radio, go to dealer, get the quote from dealer for new radio, call Uconnect before you spend any money. All I've had to pay is diagnosis costs from dealer. Uconnect# 855-792-4241. Hope this helps everyone like it did me.
