Is it usual for a 2004 Honda Accord to burn 4rts of oil within 2000 miles with no warning signss?

Hi, My daughter drives a 2004 Honda Accord. We took the car for an oil change less than two months ago. They said it looked good, and there was no indication it was low on oil. The vehicle has had regular oil changes and has been well maintained. Last week (two months since the oil change) my daughter didn't even make it out of our subdivision before, for the first time, the oil and engine light came on and car stalled. Had to have it towed to our mechanic who said there was no oil and the engine had seized up. There is no indication of leaking or burning smell or smoke from exhaust that was ever noticed. Does this happen to Honda Accords, or is it more likely the company who changed the oil didn't put enough in or did something on their end. I'm just scratching my head as to how it happened! Any suggestions or feedback would be great!

Have the mechanic confirm the oil plug was in tight from the previous job and that the oil filter was on properly with no sign of leaking. Sometimes the old filter's gasket sticks to the mounting surface and when someone puts the new filter on, it can't seal properly because of an old gasket. That's about the only two ways the previous oil change could have caused an oil loss. Otherwise this was a breakdown of the engine and not anyone's fault. Ask your daughter if there were any signs of an oil leak in her parking spot.
There was no sign of any oil leak. It parks in our driveway and there are no oil spots on driveway. If plug wasn't on tight would the oil have dripped out onto the driveway? Or would the pressure make it run out while actually driving the car? Also, isn't that a lot of oil to be missing in such a short time without any smell of burning oil?
Your daughter is at fault for not raising the hood and checking the oil level.
But why would she check it? The average person does not check their oil between oil changes if there was no previous reason to check it. We had no indication there was an issue with the car burning oil. It never had before this time! There was no smell of burning oil or smoke out the exhaust.
There is a reason there is an oil dipstick in the vehicle. It is NOT for looks. Oil should be checked at least every other fuel fill-up, but many chose to run them till they quit and never pull the dipstick out of the tube. I check my oil every couple of weeks even though none of my vehicles use any oil. The average person is just wrong.

Yep totally her fault. It’s your car, you can’t just assume everything is fine for months at s time. The dipstick is there for a reason...not to mention anyone not completely deaf should’ve heard the engine screaming for oil from that last quart down. Smh the mechanics fault...jeez.
a clogged PCV can cause oil to burn or leak. My 05 accord burned a qt in 3,000 miles. I changed the PCV and after 1,000 miles the dipstick shows full. It is very easy to change on a 4 cyl & only slightly more difficult on a V6. Check youtube for videos.
Hi, I haves 2004 accord. I always Chang the oil and filter every six weeks. Using the best oil and filter I waited for three months between oil changes. Today I paid attention to the valve noise. Pulled the dip stick and found the oil about empty! I will try changing the POV valve and looking for a new car to drive, thank you!
