I've made sure everything is totally off, but within a day or two of not being driven the battery is completely dead.  It is a brand new battery of fairly high quality and it hasn't gone below 40 degrees Fahrenheit.  Is it the battery or a short somewhere?

I would still check the battery. It could have a bad cell causing it to die or it could be a large draw. Also the alernator may not be charging the battery or not charging the max amps. i would check the out put of the altonator and check the battery then i would check for a draw. Disconect the negitave cable and use a amp meater and see what kind of amp draw there is it should be around .005 - .05 amps if your getting more than that what will drain your battery in a day or two
