Tapping sound when revving engine ~2k rpm

I'm dealing with a rattle that recently started and is noticeable when revving
the engine through 2k rpm. Thought it might have been an issue with old spark
plugs, so I put new ones in and have the same result. Don't think it's rod knock
or detonation since it happens when the engine load is low but not when it is
idle.
