For escape battery charging

Hello, I have a Ford Escape 2016 and the
battery is not working.
I want to charge the battery, do I need to get
the battery out or I can charge it while it is
hooked in the car? Also, do I use the negative
connected to the side or I have to use the
negative in the battery itself?

The negative is way inside and is not reachable, however, it is hooked into another location beside the battery and is used for jump start the cad shall I use this one instead of the actual negative pole in the battery or I have to use the battery one. As per the picture the spot circled in red

Guru8992CT2 was very helpful. To confirm my connection I made to my 2016 Ford Escape. We are having single digit temps so I bought a battery maintainer to help during the coldest time and wanted to confirm my connection to the battery. Again, thank you Guru8992CT2 for the picture!!
