Air compressor failure after engine replacement

Asked by HappyHiker_1 Jul 31, 2020 at 10:11 AM about the 2015 Honda CR-V LX FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I had to have my engine replaced after the
mechanic failed to replace the oil plug
correctly.  I got the car back and there were
problems with the AC blowing even when off,
and a start and stopping feeling coming from
the engine. Mechanic said it was air
conditioner control. They fixed that and
MINUTES after getting the car back again the
the AC compressor literally blew out. There re
82 k miles on the car. Are these likely
connected?
Thank you!

Don't go to that guy anymore, find a specialist in air conditioning, will evacuate, change the filter/dryer and fill with the correct argon gas or r-135 whatever the rules are these days, the switching is vacuum driven, perhaps listen for the hissing, and replace that leg of tubing~as far as "blowing out' meaning the a/c clutch was engaged but turning on an seized up compressor, does not seem right, think the a/c service was botched, do it again with an organization that has a fine reputation~ crap in the a/c lines will stop the show~

I have to add—this was after the compressor clutch was repaired, and the engine sounded like it literally blew up. There was a gigantic air escape, sound of firecrackers under the hood, and the engine started smoking.
