How can I disconnect the rearview camera on a new 2015 Buick Verano?

I know I'm in the minority, but please bear with me. The new car is great...love the car > HATE the technology. I'm blessed that I can turn my head & look out the back window; I do not want or need a rearview camera. The manual & the research I've done so far hasn't helped; I can't figure out how or if I can turn it off. It appears that the option to turn the entire camera off isn't available; I hope I'm wrong. Thank you for understanding that not everyone in the world wants more technology. Help !!!!!

You're not alone. FREEDS...Frustrating Ridiculous Expensive Electronic Devices. Now in your owners manual Chapter 9 Page 44 explains. If you lost your manual, download it from thee link below. I see nothing about how to just turn it off..put a piece of black tape on the lens right above the license plate. IMO many of these so-called safety features lead to driver complacency. There is NO substitute for looking behind car for tricycles..even OCCUPIED by a 3-year old, anything by just looking behind the car before getting in and not depending on a camera.

It's good to know I'm not alone, thank you so much. I'll try what you wrote FordNut. On a lighter note, I don't need a heated steering wheel either; I own a pair of gloves !

CamaroCollector, thank you for your suggestion. May I assume that the lens of the camera above the license plate is not the camera itself and that I need to find the actual camera and disconnect it there? If I have to get under the car, it won't be the first time. Let me impress you by saying that I'm a woman and I did changed the oil in my 1967 GTO, although that was when I was a girl ! Thank you, again.

In answer to your question, it may or not be , every application is different. And i applaud you for changing you own oil when you were young, not many women would get their hands dirty, but i guess that GTO was worth it.

CamaroCollector, thank you for your reply & compliment. I'll find out where the actual camera is located & crawl & get dirty, if needed.
If you have the owners manual for the car, it may be as simple as pulling the fuse (owners manual tell you where the fuse is) The camera is probably behind that lens by the license plate, you should be able to find the wire on the underside to the trunk lid...unplug it. When my daughters were old enough to drive, one of the requirements was they must be able to change a tire. (think 1978 no cell phones), Both passed the test.
