Should a VVT solenoid rattle when you shake it?

Did you have a code that had a VVT Solenoid? If it's a 2.4 Ecotec the VVT Solenoids went bad often and you usually replaced the pair.

Thanks. Yes, I had a code, but the car ran well and so I was wondering if replacement was necessary. It looks like an easy fix, so I'm going to do it.

If there's a code for the VVT and it is in fact a 2.4 4 cylinder Ecotec. I would replace it because they do go bad quite often and will start having issues in the future.
