switches on driver door, 2014 x3 xdrive 28i

I have figured out the window controls and mirror controls, but there is a switch
with a figure with a slash across the figure.  I accidentally pushed the switch
and an internal light came on in the switch, so I turned something on.  What did
I turn on?  Now pushing makes no difference.  no clicks, light in switch stays on.  
What is that switch for?
