I have a 1986 ford ranger wit an apparent vacuum leak. I started hearing a
slight hiss from inside the cab over time the hiss got louder and the engine
started to run a little rough. I also noticed a decline in fuel mileage. While the
engine is idling, the hissing will stop when the brake pedal is depressed and
the engine idle will slow slightly. I held a cigarette close to where the rod
attached to the brake pedal goes through the fire wall and the smoke was
drawn through the hole. Any ideas or suggestions will be appreciated.
