Are Sprinters this good or what?

Asked by Mark Aug 26, 2017 at 11:58 AM about the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cab Chassis 3500 170 DRW RWD

Question type: General

There's not a lot of questions or problems with Sprinters on this forum,  which
tells me they're either really GREAT vehicles or not too common with people on
the Car Gurus forum?   Which one do you think it is?

Most people who have one probably have it maintained by a dealership and are not DIY'ers.

Ken, I just marked your answer.. "best answer".... WHY? I agree with you. These vehicles are VERY expensive and people who have them very likely just have the dealership or their local mechanic maintain them. Good answer. I imagine you have one of these vehicles? IF so, please tell me your overall experience so far. Thanks,

Ken, just noticed that you don't have one listed in your garage, but, some nice cars though.

Believe me, I would love one, however I'm a tight-wad who tends to buy used only, and every Sprinter I've come across (real Sprinters too, although the Dodge-Mercedes version is not bad) have about a million miles on them lol. I do think if you do buy one, new or used, the best thing you can do for it is get on a maintenance schedule with a local Mercedes service station. These are big investments.

KenF-. I understand completely....and for this reason I purchased this used.... here's a picture of what I got.....it's actually a 2012 Roadtrek RS Adventurous on the 2011 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 3500 chassis, 1 ton, dual wheels....rides very smoothly.

Ken, I actually looked on an off for about 7 years for a great deal on a slightly used Roadtrek... And, this 2012 conversion had 26,000 miles....drives like a new vehicle.... here's one more picture below.. it's very comfortable inside. Saw a lot of really rough vehicles with either too many miles or stressed interiors.... I was VERY lucky to find this. The new models were out of my price range... and this wasn't cheap...but, I figured, you can't take it with you.... Decided if I didn't do it now, I would never have the time or energy to enjoy it.

KenF- I noticed that you like older highway patrol vehicles and have two of them...a Ford Crown Victoria and a Chevrolet Impala.... very nice.... When you acquired them were they in excellent condition.... not too many miles...wear or tear?

I bought those at various auctions and have since sold them. I don't think I own any of the cars in my "garage" anymore except the Olds. Also just bought a Studebaker at auction, a 55 1/2-ton truck, planning on a little resto-mod for it.

OK, that's interesting..... didn't see an Oldsmobile? Yes, 1955 Studebaker pick up? Looks like a lot of work?? I'm not really into restoring cars..but , I know people who are... good luck with that.

Oh sorry the Olds is the one in my avatar pic, I didn't add either to the 'garage' as they aren't for sale. Bought the Olds back in 84, had it ever since.

Beautiful...1972?? By the way, what did you think of my Roadtrek RS Adventurous?

You can have cars in your garage that are not necessarily for sale...
