Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 90 Dodge Spirit it has a
terrible miss and it gets so bad at
times it almost kills the engine
and the check engine and oil lights
comes on but then the car speeds
up and the lights goes out. Also
when I drive it I have to keep both
pettles held or the car will die and
at times won't start. But only when
I'm at a stop or driving through a
parking lot very slowly. The car
has gotten so bad that it burns a
quart of oil daily and uses a
quarter of a tank of gas in just a
couple of miles. I am 19 years old
it is my first car and I bought and
payed for it my self I don't want to
junk it someone please help me

First thing to do is to check the engine compression. That may be a lot of the engines problem. Burning oil like that, this motor is not going to last.
