1988 Caprice classic starting problem

I have a 88 Caprice classic with the 305 and I
started one morning it started fine I drove for like
20minutes turned it off now it's having problems
starting when I turn the key sometimes it starts
sometimes it sounds like it's not getting enough
power it just whines a few times than clicks my
head lights and everything still has power lights
aren't dime I just change the alternator could it be
my starter

Definitely sounds like the starter. Especially if the headlights are nice and bright while this is going on. But if the headlights dim and flicker badly have the battery load tested. If the battery fails the load test replace it. If not, check your battery cable connections at both ends. Make sure everything is clean and tight. Hope that helps! Jim
