Brake Booster

Asked by GuruVGQN7 Sep 25, 2018 at 04:03 PM about the 2013 Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My F150 has 40,000 miles on it and the brake booster has to be replaced. Is
this a typical life span of a booster?

Not on any of my Fords but anything mechanical will fail sooner or later. Sooner in this case.

Ford has a recall on 2013-2014 F-150's, where the master cylinder leaks into the power booster. However, this is only for a few VINs produced in certain plants. A class action lawsuit is covering several other locations where the exact same problem occurred. Even with the replacement, it is the same master cylinder, with a chance of reoccurring.
