So I take it that it cranks but won’t fire up. When was the last time the distributor pickup, ignition module and ignition coil was replaced. You can check it by unplugging the ignition coil, use a test light and test for battery power on the positive coil wire, If no power check the ignition switch, if you have power then put test light between positive coil power and the trigger wire or negative on the coil electrical plug, now crank the engine as look for a flashing light, if you have a flashing light replace the ignition coil, if no flashing light replace the distributor pickup coil and the ignition module as a set then recheck for flashing light, if you have flashing light reconnect the ignition coil and it should fire up if everything else is in working order. Of corse on a rig this old you could also have wiring issues, relays bad or intermittent, weak grounds. The list goes on.

Forgot about the fuel pump, filter, relay and the accursed fuel cut off switch.
