Metal grating sound and sometimes wants to keep running even when the ignition is turned off. Also, where is the starter located?

The starter is located eithier on the side of the engine or the bottom of it. but sounds to me like starter all the way or bad conections. If you are hearing metal grinding and keeps runninig the starter and solinoid are bad

If you have a 3.0L v6 the starter is tucked by the front motor mount the mount needs to be removed from the body engine and trans to remove the starter. Make sure to disconnect the battery cables before removal it's a tight space
