89 Toyota sr5 extra cab 4wd 3.0l, Rebuild and upgrade where possible

Best course to rebuild???
Purpose:
Add horse power,
upgrade trany to newer 6 speed or automatic if possible
Where do I start? Can you point me in the right direction.
The truck is in Texas, I can now remove all smog etc...

F_O_R Super charger would be great also newer swap. Can you point me in the right direction where i can find the information? Thank you
