4 wheel drive no longer engages

was in 4 wheel drive, there was a jerk while driving & now 4 wheel drive no longer engages

Could be many things like something wrong with the transfer case, broken drive shaft to the front dif, could be a broken front dif, broken axle to the front wheels or a broken front wheel hub. Good to start at the front wheel hubs and keep on all the way to the T-case.

If you use 4wd on asphalt or concrete road with no snow or ice on them you will damage the 4wd system.

Might have a borken axle, have it checked out before you damage it more.

Sigurður answered Thanks,I drove it a little today,,did not sound good! It was not in 4-wheel drive. That is why in Alabama we have 2 cars to keep one going,,U know.I wonder how much the shop--parts will cost me. DAMN! I got to have my truck!
