the PCM (power control module) controls everything in your engine coolant fans, fuel, spark, .... it is sensing that your engine is getting hot an actually turns off throttle response so that you can not drive it to do any damage to the engine ..actually going into a safe mode ... with the engine cold check your coolant level and make sure it is full ...you could just have a sticking thermostat and its not opening all the way or possibly not at all ...how long of a driving cycle before it gets hot and does it do it all the time??
