put new timing belt on and will not start?

Asked by MJbutts May 08, 2014 at 12:20 AM about the 2000 Dodge Neon Highline Sedan FWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2000 dodge neon and the timing belt broke. I tore everything down and put a new
belt, water pump and tensioner on it. I got a head from wrecked 2000 neon and put it on.
First the battery was dead because it was down for quite a while. So after charging the
battery the car will not start. any suggestions?

since it was a JY head i would do a leakdown test to ensure there are no leaking or bent valves. i would also double check timing as well as cam sensor.
