Question type: General

My car started cutting off while i was driving
but would start back up. Then the next time
it cut off but would not crank  for about 30
mins. I had the fuel pump changed but it
started doing it again. What could be the

If you are having trouble with your Dodge, visit https://www.vivadodgeramfiat.com/ and schedule your service maintenance from the comfort of your home.

I'm dealing with the same issue. Initially it cut off when going down the highway; didn't shut off just no gas. Then it kicked back in. Now it's starting to actually shut off completely, and restarts within a few minutes if not instantly. I finally noticed it threw a code, check engine lot popped on then right off. Just got back from mechanic hooking it up, said it's clearing the codes on it's own. So can't figure out what it is. Mechanic has a '99 Durango, and he thinks it might be the oil pressure switch. Looking around online, seems to be a common issue. I've seen replacing the PCM sometimes helps, another said the coil pack, others crankshaft position sensor. I don't have the money to try to randomly replace parts. This has been an ongoing issue for Chrysler for years now what I'm seeing, and it's a safety issue. There's a reason I've disliked Chryslers. Vehicle was given to me, I never would've bought it.

Clean your map/mav sensor. It's located somewhere on your throttle body/air intake. That little diode measures the amount of O2 in the air and adjusts the amount of fuel to send to the injectors. If it gets just a little dirty it throws off the whole system. Squirt it once or twice with engine cleaner. Be careful though. It's delicate and expensive. It'll improve your mpg too..
