Question type: General

I know it has been covered many times but, I would like to read it one more
time. I am going to buy a 2013-14 Outback 2.5 for a secondary vehicle for
towing a light 1200 lb boat and an Aliner 2100 lb.dry camper. I can reduce the
weight by removing things I won't need and tongue weight will be 200 lbs or
less.
Mostly flatland driving in Florida with a trip to North Ga. on occasion. I
understand electric
brakes and such as I have been towing for 40ish years. Can anyone tell me
why I should or should not do this. Thanks, Kevin

You can do it but you apparently understand the risk. Why not buy a real tow vehicle like a full sized pickup or SUV? Even a mid sized pickup like a Toyota would be far, far better than a Subaru.

I have a full size ford now with 225 k on it and it does the job well. My dog loves it but, the wife hates it and she would love to have another Subaru. I love trucks but, at the age of 61 I just don't haul as much stuff anymore. I am a bit concerned about the cvt and hope if I don't abuse it things will be ok.

Change the CVT fluid and hope for the best. An Expedition might please your wife and they make a good tow vehicle.
