2013 Kia Rio didn't start but then was fine an hour later

Asked by Guru9D721W Nov 19, 2020 at 02:14 PM about the 2013 Kia Rio LX

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2013 Kia Rio, bought it brand new 7 years ago and never had an
issue until today.  Was running errands in the morning before going to work,
then when I parked the car, I didn't do a good parking job so I went back
inside, tried to start the car, but it wouldn't turn over.  It kept making clicking
noises and all my dashboard lights came on, but nothing.  So I went inside
my work, came back out an hour later, and it started right up no problem.  Is
this a sign that my alternator is starting to fail? or my batter, or starter? I am
worried that when drive it again, it will start up fine but if I stop at the store,
then it doesn't start again.......

Sounds like it wasn't quite in park when you tried to restart it. I would have it checked by a mechanic. First the charging system and then the nutral safety switch.

Could just be the battery terminals need cleaning . Most batteries don't last 7 years. So have a load test done as well
