2012 honda pilot recall
I have a '12 pilot that had to have the piston rings
replaced due to a recall. Now I need a timing belt.
(133000k miles) on this vehicle, does the timing
belt typically get replaced during a ring
replacement? As in does the front of the motor
need to come off too get the heads off? I'm
curious of the dealership should have poor a new
timing belt on when they were doing the recall
If it was a recall the only thing they get paid for is the parts and the techs wages for just the recall, nothing else, so they most likely did not replace the timing belt at that time, unless they called you stating that it needs to be done .
Thanks. They didn't call but I'm surprised they didn't since it was an easy sell for them. The car was 20k miles overdue for the timing belt change when they had it. Thanks shin for your insight.
They must not have any incentive program for the techs, when I was a flat rate tech at a dealer they had a program that if you found something and the service writer sold that job depending on the amount of money you got to pull off a sticker on a board some of the higher dollar amounts were upwards of 300 bucks, and back then that was really good. But i have been away from dealerships a long time. Hope you get this ironed out.
