How do I bypass the anti-theft situation when starting my truck with a new key?

Asked by Melkins05 Aug 26, 2016 at 02:30 PM about the 2003 Dodge Durango R/T 4WD

Question type: General

My mechanic lost my only key to my 2003 Dodge Durango while installing a
water pump. I was able to have another key made thru a Dodge dealership in
town. The new key fits in the ignition and even starts the vehicle, but then the
truck just turns off. I'm assuming this is due to the anit-theft programming of
the vehicle. Can you tell me how to bypass this a keep my vehicle running?

Your mechanic needs to buy you a new key and the programming it takes to match it to your vehicle. There is no bypassing the security system.
