what engine fits a 2004 stratus

Replace with a like engine from a similar model year status. That will cost you a few grand. Installing another size engine involves some custom work, more parts like a transaxle , ECM and other mods that will end up costing another few grand for that. I personally wouldn't put $6K into a 2004 Stratus.
