engine misses during acceleration

Asked by bobbeeman Oct 24, 2014 at 08:20 AM about the 1987 BMW 3 Series 325i Convertible RWD

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The engine starts well and runs smoothly for a while then starts missing. If I turn the engine off and restart it may or may not miss. I replaced the plugs. Not them.

sounds like a compression problem , check the one of the pistons , or valves ... causing loss of power on the power stroke or compression stroke.. a good mech... will figure it out with a few checks

check fuel pressure, could be starving for for fuel. May need a fuel filter or fuel pump,it's the cheapest place to start.
