Gasoline put in Jetta TDI, now what?

Asked by tilda Sep 06, 2013 at 11:01 AM about the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen TDI FWD with Sunroof and Navigation

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The car has less than 35K miles on it.  The gas was put in a near empty tank, driven about 3 miles and now we are trying to figure out what to do.  We've put in a claim to the insurance agency.  If it gets minimal work done to it, should we get out of it right away or take our chances?

1 Answer

drain it...capture the fuel for use in your chainsaw or lawn mower and top off with correct diesel fuel...disassemble the fuel areas and blast the gasoline out with compressed air before filling with the correct diesel fuel~
