awd is not activating when needed

there are no codes set. all wheel sensors are working. question is are the clutch
packs on rear transaxle  a cause of no activation, or do i need a rear transaxle?

How do you know the AWD is not working properly? AWD is all computer controlled and relies on the ABS wheels sensors to activate.
