2006 Dodge Durango

I have a 2006 Dodge Durango 4.7 my truck just
started to run hot. I checked the radiator fluid  
reservoir was dry I add some in. Then I checked the
main radiator  compartment after it cooled off. I
started it up put the heat on but low and watched
for the level. It didn't suck down it started to
overflow. I looked at the tail pipe no water leaking
just sweat no white smoke. I took it to advance auto
to get it check because engine light is on and it
came back as a o2 heat sensor will that cause t to
over heat. I am  baffled  at this point. I am getting
heat I checked the tube and it heats up. When I put
the heat on the gauge will go down to the middle
part but if not on it will tart to rise pass the middle
point and will hit the H. Can someone help me
please.

When engine hits operating temp thermostat should open and coolant sucked in to engine - if not, then you have a bad thermostat or water pump or a completely blocked radiator. You say water was being pushed out overflow, to me that indicates water pump is still good but cooling system is blocked. This is likely the thermostat - I would replace the thermostat, it's cheap and a DIY project. Check condition of hoses when you do that as well, the lower hose has the potential to collapse so make sure it is still in good condition. A flow test can check radiator for proper flow, but even partially blocked radiators can still flow enough to prevent a cooling system from doing what yours is doing.

Forgot to mention, also check degas (overflow) bottle cap, if it's cracked radiator can't suck coolant back into system. In fact, check this first, then move on to thermostat.
